Color Wheel Paint, Local Businesses and Volunteers Revitalize the Downtown Orlando Recreation Complex

Orlando, Florida - March, 12th

On Saturday, March 10, 2012, Color Wheel Paint demonstrated its commitment to community service by kicking off Refresh Orlando, an event that brought together local businesses and 250 volunteers of all ages to repaint, refresh and re-inspire a historical Orlando landmark – the Downtown Orlando Recreation Complex. This 32,885 square foot facility is well known to the residents of Orlando and can be found right in the heart of Downtown Orlando next to the Amway Arena – a facility which is being redeveloped into a mixed-use Creative Village. Orlando’s own Mayor Buddy Dyer made a special appearance to show his support for the event and welcome the volunteers.

The Downtown Orlando Recreation Complex is home to many important community centric programs such as Parramore Kidz Zone (PKZ), Junior Magic Basketball, Midnight Basketball, Orlando Pottery Studio and Orlando Tennis Centre, all of which are available to Orlando residents with a mission to make a difference in the lives of local children, offering them the resources they need to become successful, healthy, well educated adults. PKZ specifically aims to reduce juvenile crime, teen pregnancy, and high school drop-out rates in Orlando’s highest poverty, highest crime neighborhood.

“We are very grateful to all the partners involved in the Refresh Orlando volunteer event and their generosity to the Parramore Kidz Zone,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. “This event will help benefit the thousands of Orlando’s most at-risk youths enrolled in the PKZ program as well as further beautify the Parramore neighborhood. Through partnerships like this one, our community continues to work together to make our City the best place anywhere to live, work and raise a family.”
